What is a Giclée? Giclée (pronounced Gee'clay) is a French term meaning a fine spray or squirt. Though this is how an inkjet printer works, this process is not at all the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer. An IRIS ink jet printer, specifically designed for the precise duplication of fine art, is used, providing museum quality, limited edition prints for collectors. The original painting is scanned in a perfectly lighted environment. Special light-fast inks are sprayed on canvas or watercolor paper while slowly coming off a large drum. The canvas or paper used are prepared to accept this special printing process. The inks are the most archival, water based, light-fast inks available and offer a 70-year light-fastness and UV-resistance under museum archival conditions. I, the artist, approve "proofs" of each art print to insure the correct tone, depth and color saturation. The final product does not have any perceptible dot pattern; the visual quality is stunning. And lastly, the print can be done in a vast array of sizes to fit the needs of any collector.
